New leadership opportunity as Senior Vice President, Ambulatory Services with Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, Arizona. The organization is beginning a $1 billion project, funded by citizens, to complete an entire renovation of the safety-net health system

The Position

  • The Senior Vice President, Ambulatory Services is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and leading of the applicable CHC clinics, FHC, WHHC and FQHC LA clinics and associated support departments focusing on the efficient operation and overall coordination of clinic operations
  • Key goals include leading all aspects of Council-related activities to ensure accomplishment of its mission, vision, values and strategic goals and initiatives, evaluates cost and effectiveness of programs and services, and assesses the viability of new opportunities to expand services
  • The SVP will build strong and collaborative relationships with all individuals including staff, physicians, the community, patients and families, volunteers, and colleagues
  • The successful candidate will have public health, ambulatory care, clinical, and behavioral health experience
  • Master’s degree required

The Organization

  • Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) is Maricopa County’s public teaching hospital and safety net system of care
  • The system is comprised of Maricopa Medical Center a 325-bed acute care hospital, the Comprehensive Healthcare Center (a multi-specialty ambulatory health clinic), 13 community-oriented Federally Qualified Health Centers throughout Maricopa County (all accredited by NCQA as Patient Centered Medical Homes), a free standing behavioral health hospital and behavioral health annex (collectively providing 241 beds), an attendant care program and a variety of outpatient services
  • Maricopa Medical Center is a tertiary and quaternary level teaching hospital which includes a Level I Adult Trauma Center, a level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and the Arizona Burn Center which is the region’s only burn center and the 2nd largest in the nation. This is the only hospital in the state of Arizona to provide both adult and pediatric trauma care.
  • MIHS is the first health care organization in Arizona to be awarded the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification. MIHS’s accreditation is through DNV
  • MIHS has the largest residency program in Maricopa County/Phoenix, with 10 ACGME accredited specialties and approximately 400 residents. MIHS also has academic affiliations with area medical schools including the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix for medical student rotations
  • MIHS employs approximately 4000 people and has a total expense budget of over $650 million
  • In November of 2014, the voters of Maricopa County approved the 2nd largest general obligation bond referendum in State History providing $935 million to MIHS for a replacement hospital, expansion of the ambulatory care network and replacement of its Behavioral Health Hospital
  • MIHS has undergone a significant financial turnaround, producing over $70 million in operating improvement between FY 2014 and FY 2017
