The Research Assistant will be responsible for providing essential support with tasks associated with cultural and linguistic competence initiatives for healthcare clients across four boroughs in New York City. Working closely with clinical and community-based organizations, the individual in this position will be part of a team that will help gather data during Cultural Competence and Linguistic Assessments conducted to help organizations in healthcare better understand their cultural climate. This is a project-based, independent contract position with travel requirements.

The position requires excellent written, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work independently as well as on a team. This person will prioritize multiple tasks and schedules for a team and ensure the ability to meet stringent deadlines. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. The compensation is $25 per billable hours. Qualifications

 

Education and Experience

Years of Experience:  1-2 years

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

Required:

  • Previous experience or the equivalent as a data analyst or report writer
  • Excellent writing skills, superb proofreading skills and attention to detail
  • Quantitative/qualitiave analytical ability
  • Research experience
  • Social perceptiveness and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of security issues involved in safely handling, accessing, transferring, and storing sensitive data
  • Time management - attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Ability to interact effectively with all associates is mandatory
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Systems
  • Familiarity with CLAS standards
  • Ability to travel
  • References and writing samples
  • Must pass criminal history background check

 

Preferred:

  • Previous exposure to other cultures
  • Knowledge of New York City communities
  • English/Spanish language skills a plus
  • Marketing research
  • Candidates with background, experience and/or interest in healthcare are preferred
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed
