UMass Memorial HealthCare (UMMHC) has retained Witt/Kieffer to support their efforts to recruit a progressive and experienced leader for its next President of UMass Memorial Medical Center (UMMMC). This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with a demonstrated track record of successful leadership in academic medicine to bring excellence to one of the country’s preeminent academic medical centers.
Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, UMMMC is a 781-bed facility and serves as the region‘s trusted academic medical center within the largest healthcare system in Central and Western Massachusetts. UMMMC offers a full complement of sophisticated technology and support services, providing the region with specialists renowned for their work in areas such as cardiology, cancer, emergency medicine, minimally invasive surgery, women’s health and children’s medical services, including an internationally recognized newborn intensive care unit.
Reporting to and in collaboration with the UMMHC CEO, Eric Dickson, MD, MHCM, FACEP, the President will develop and articulate a clear vision for how the Medical Center can best contribute to fulfillment of the vision and mission of the UMass Memorial system. The UMMMC President will advance the vision for the Medical Center and will be focused on UMMMC achieving top decile performance nationally in quality, access and service; the President must have a zeal for advancing a culture of performance and service, enhancing UMMMC’s regional and national leadership in patient care, teaching, research and service.
The President role represents an outstanding leadership opportunity for a dynamic, authentic, operationally-driven and talented leader. He/she will have a clear and substantial opportunity to impact the performance and growth of both the system and medical center and the organization seeks a leader who is motivated to establishing a long term commitment to UMMHC and its success.
The successful candidate will have significant and broad operational and executive leadership experience within an academic medical center or major teaching hospital, or similarly complex healthcare environment. Candidates should have demonstrated experience leading operational and strategic initiatives, developing and implementing approaches to improving the quality of care, operational effectiveness and efficiency and partnering with physician leaders on program development.
