Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Trinity Health to assist in their national search for a transformational, innovative and inspirational President for Mercy Health Muskegon. Mercy Health Muskegon is a Catholic, non-profit regional health care system providing services to patients throughout Western Michigan. This opportunity is available due to the planned retirement of the current President, Greg Loomis in 2017.

Mercy Health Muskegon (formerly Mercy Health Partners) is a complex health system that has grown and evolved since its development in 2008. It is the largest employer in Muskegon County with over 3,700 colleagues, and is the largest health system along the lakeshore.

Mercy Health Muskegon is a teaching hospital with more than 20,000 inpatient discharges, 2,200 births and 145,000 emergency visits/urgent care visits annually. The system has four hospitals (Mercy Campus, Hackley Campus, General Campus and Lakeshore Campus), 375 physicians and offers a number of exclusive specialty physician care services for the region. Net revenue for the organization is approximately $529 million. In addition, Mercy Health Muskegon, a member of Mercy Health, is a proud member of Trinity Health, one of the largest Catholic health systems in the United States. Mercy Health was formed in 2011, when Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon and Saint Mary’s Health Care in Grand Rapids entered into a partnership with other West Michigan health care providers to bring greater access to services and personalized care to the region.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Mercy Health Muskegon during a pivotal time for the organization, the state and the nation. The President will continue to build upon Mercy Health Muskegon’s unique brand within the region, focused on value based people-centered care, as well as set the strategic direction that reflects a people-centered health care approach.

Mercy Health Muskegon is searching for a bold, strategic thinker, a superb communicator and a strong relationship builder with top-tier management and leadership experience, skilled at both navigating the health care landscape and working at the intersection of vision, policy and politics. The new President should have a deep knowledge of, and commitment to the population she/he serves, and have the vision to help move the organization into a new chapter, as it explores the best ways to balance and improve access, affordability and health care quality.
