Chief Financial Officer
Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Akron Children's Hospital to assist in the recruitment of a Chief Financial Officer.
Akron Children’s Hospital is ranked among the best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, but their compassionate approach to treatment is what makes Akron Children's truly exceptional. To ensure families have convenient access to care, Akron Children's has two hospital campuses in northeast Ohio and 60+ primary, specialty and urgent care locations. To bring its neonatal and pediatric expertise to patients Akron Children's collaborates with many community partners. Through their Children’s Home Care and School Health programs, Akron Children's nurses treat kids where they live and learn. With more than 1 million patient visits in 2017, the organization has been leading the way to healthier futures for children through quality patient care, education, advocacy, community service and medical discovery since 1890.
The Akron Children's CFO reports directly to the President & CEO, Grace Wakulchik. Prior to her promotion to CEO in 2018, Ms. Wakulchik served Akron Children's for over two decades, most recently as its President & COO. Ohio is home to several top tier children's hospitals and one of the market differentiators of Akron Children's has been its ability to develop partnerships with some of the region's leading health systems, bringing neonatal and pediatric expertise to a broad array of community hospitals. Akron Children's collaborative approach has resulted in strong financial performance and has allowed for investment in a wide array of mission driven children's healthcare services that are highly valued in Northeast Ohio.
Chief Financial Officer candidates will have a broad range of strategic financial skills with a track record of accomplishments gained from senior finance leadership roles in competitive healthcare markets. In this highly visible role, the CFO will be adept at balancing the leadership of strategic finance with the management of the financial operations that are needed to achieve innovation, growth and strong financial performance. Most importantly, candidates will have a passion for pediatric healthcare and thrive on working in an organization that delivers outstanding children’s healthcare for the communities it serves.
The Akron Children's CFO will have an opportunity to live and work in a market that has a wide variety of cultural and recreational opportunities. Most people think of Akron for tire manufacturing. However, Akron has a small city charm with many offerings such as a thriving Historic Arts district, jazz clubs and sports venues. Located a quick 30 miles south of Cleveland, Akron and Northeast Ohio have something for everyone during every season of the year. Whether it is Akron, the Cleveland metro area or the 33,000 acres of natural beauty at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (located between Cleveland and Akron) the region offers an outstanding quality of life and a very affordable housing market.
