From NASA to MSK: Exercise Oncology

Date: Wednesday, November 28, 2018

Location: Rockefeller Research Laboratories (RRL) Auditorium, entrance 430 East 67th Street

Time: 5:30-6:30 pm (with pre-talk pizza in RRL lobby 5-5:30!)

Speaker: Jessica Scott, PhD, Exercise Oncology Service, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK); former Senior Scientist in the Exercise Physiology and Countermeasures Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Center

NASA scientists have used exercise to mitigate the deconditioning experienced by astronauts in space for over 50 years.  In this introduction to the new field of exercise oncology, Dr. Jessica Scott will discuss her research examining how NASA’s countermeasures program may help to prevent or reverse multisystem toxicity after a diagnosis of cancer.  Open to students in 9th grade and older.

This talk is part of the quarterly MSK Student Seminar series, created to share our expertise with students, communicate the excitement of cancer research, and create a learning community at MSK.

RSVP to ofd@mskcc.org if you want to attend. Open to students in 9th grade and older; MSK staff are also welcome.  We ask each person who wants to come to RSVP so we can order enough pizza!
