The event was attended by Hispanic business owners who obtained information on dental care from the Hispanic Dental Association, health screenings from the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, supplier diversity opportunities from the National Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Health and guidance on medical school admission requirements from the National Hispanic Medical Association. Also visiting the Health Care Pavilion was President Lionel Fernandez, President of the Dominican Republic, who entered into a discussion of available federal health resources from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

International Healthcare

As the debate on a national health insurance program continues, other countries, such as England, have their own unique strategies to address universal coverage. A recent trip to London showed both traditional and innovative approaches to health care delivery. St Thomas Hospital is located in the heart of the capital and serves some of the most diverse communities in the UK where more than 130 languages are spoken.  The Trust has a number of different initiatives as part of a comprehensive equality and diversity programme to address issues of race, age, gender, sexual orientation and disability.
