Natividad Medical Center (NMC) located in Salinas, California, has retained Quick Leonard Kieffer to conduct a search for the hospital’s new Chief Executive Officer. This is an excellent opportunity with NMC, a modern facility with sophisticated equipment that has delivered quality health care to Monterey County’s residents for over 119 years.
Natividad Medical Center is a 172-bed acute care medical center owned and operated by Monterey County. Natividad is a safety-net public community hospital emphasizing the care of women, children and families, offering comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic and specialty care. Its medical staff of more than 268 physicians represents 44 specialties. NMC has an 18-bed Emergency Department and is the only hospital in the Salinas area with a licensed heliport on premises to facilitate helicopter transport.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer of Natividad Medical Center will provide leadership, management, direction and guidance to ensure the fulfillment of the medical center’s mission and philosophy. Specifically, the new CEO will assess the community’s needs, evaluate the quality of the medical center’s “products and services”, define problems and develop corrective plans. This person will ensure that the initiatives recently introduced are sustained and that the medical center’s strategic plan is implemented. It is essential that the CEO work with the Board on continuous improvements in governance and quality. Additionally, the new CEO will ensure that Natividad has the appropriate financial and strategic support from the State of California.

| Qualifications |
The ideal candidate for this position will be a seasoned, masters-prepared healthcare executive with progressive, executive-level management experience in a successful organization that faces similar challenges and has excelled. The candidate should have extensive operations experience and, ideally, experience in a public hospital and / or community teaching hospital setting with active residencies and medical school affiliation, as well as experience in dealing with payer mix challenges and, preferably, turn around operational experience. |
